November Events

Games Night  November 19th from 5:30 -8:30 pm

Join us for this fun-filled night. Spend the evening playing (or watching) games like checkers, chess, Scrabble, Pictionary, Chutes & Ladders, Monopoly, and various card games. If you have a favorite game, bring it! This is a great chance to play, laugh, or compete – depending on your style – with folks of all different ages from the church. We will serve cookies and dessert bars, coffee, tea, seltzer and juice. If you want, you can  pre-order pizza by the slice ($1.50 per slice).   Sign up with Carol Ackerman.   She will need the pizza money by Sunday, November 14th.

Film:  Chaplains Under Fire (Sunday, November 21st at 7:00 pm Cape Ann Community Cinema, 21 Main Street, Gloucester)

This film focuses on the role of chaplains in the military and how their work relates to issues of separation of church and state.  Within that, there is a strong tie to the history of the Gloucester UU Church, which in the 1780’s played an important role in establishing the principle of separation of church and state — years before the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution set that principle in place as part of the Bill of Rights.
