 Everything the Light Touches (2022) by Janice Pariat, mingles fact with fiction, ecology with history. The novel moves in a non-linear fashion across centuries, focusing on four travelers, including Linnaeus and Goethe, whose routes are interconnected like tangled roots. A poignant read that brings together, with startling and playful novelty, people and places that seem, at first, removed from eac n time and place. Yet as it artfully reveals, all is resonance; all is connection. Best Book of the Year in The New Yorker.
