In the early 90’s church member Shep Abbott moved into a third story loft intending to use it as his film, video and living space. When the economy crashed, so did his clients. He was scanning the want ads hysterically when a dear friend gave him advice she had been given by a dear friend: “Forget the want ads. Sit down at your favorite writing table and make a list of the things you most like doing and begin doing them.” Here’s the list he wrote down: drawing, painting, designing, sculpture, singing, dancing. playing guitar, making movies, lighting sets, editing movies, writing, photography, creating, inventing, and kids. Two years later, Fishtown Artspace was incorporated as a non-profit and got its first foundation grant. In other words; 13 years of Fun. Come hear Shep reminisce about the people, the projects and The Fun following our church service on May 10th.
