What to Expect in Worship

We gather in worship to find meaning and opportunities to live our lives with more intention and depth.  Worship creates connections within, among, and beyond us, calling us to our better selves, calling us to live with wisdom and compassion.

Elements of a typical Sunday morning service include:

  • Welcome and Announcements
  • Call to Worship
  • Music throughout the service, instrumental and vocal
  • Kindling of our Chalice
  • Unison Reciting of our Affirmation
  • Three hymns, at the beginning, middle and end of the service
  • A prayer or meditation
  • A reading and a responsive reading
  • A sermon
  • An offering, collecting financial donations for the congregation or for specially designated justice work in the community
  • Closing words or benediction
  • Extinguishing of our Chalice

Following the service

At the conclusion of each in-person service everyone is invited to go outdoors to greet one another. We will be resuming our tradition of serving refreshments downstairs in our vestry as soon as it is safe to do so. We are always glad when visitors join us!
