A Conversation with Charlene Smith

Cape Ann Local Action (CALA) invites the community to its next meeting which will feature a conversation with award-winning journalist and Nelson Mandela biographer Charlene Smith.
Her writings include “Mandela: In Celebration of a Great Life” and “Robben Island”.
Charlene lived through apartheid and interviewed Mandela many times including 3 days after he was released from prison. She now lives in Massachusetts.
Charlene will talk with us about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa and the healing that came from it. She looks forward to our questions and discussion. Regarding the events in our country over the past year, Charlene brings a unique perspective based on her experience in South Africa.
Here is an article she wrote just as Trump took office.
